PiovereTignale and the area of Piovere

gnale is a small town situated in the Alto Garda Bresciano Park and thanks to its position overlooking the lake has been called the “Balcony of Garda” and is an international destination for tourism. It provides it visitors with different entertainment possibilities. In addition to cultural tours for churches and monuments, during the day you can also enjoy the relaxing Lake along the beaches of the Lido Tignale, served by the shuttle bus, where you can try sailing, windsufing and all different watersports.. The hinterland of Tignale is also suitable for mountain biking with a variety of routes and cycle paths. Piovere is one of the six villages of Tignale which is dedicated to the San Marco church. The San Marco church is situated in a panoramic position on a ledge on the south edge of the village of Piovere. Its first documented declaration dates back to 1537, but was consecrated to San Marco in 1633 on the day of April 25, the festival dedicated to the Holy spirit the ancient village of of Piovere (Taken from “Piovere e Tignale. montecastelloMontecastello Sanctuary

The Sanctuary of Montecastello is located just below the peak of Monte Castello, on a spur of rock sheer above the lake, with magnificent panoramic views. With its wonderful air of spirituality and peace, its history, artistic & architectural beauty, and marvellous location, it is one of the most famous and well-loved sacred places of Lake Garda. For centuries it has been a place of pilgrimage and devotion, particularly to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is portrayed in an antique and miraculous fresco behind the main altar. The Sanctuary is open until to end October 2015 from 9.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. Mass: From May to end September on Sunday, 5.00 p.m.

Chiesa di S. Pietro

The San Pietro Church

The little Church of S. Pietro dating back to 500/600 A.D. is located about 200 m. from a settlement with origins between the Middle Bronze Age and the Roman epoch, which in the early Middle Ages became Gardola. This little Church at the entrance to Gardola, with its splendid view of the lake, now houses a small museum with tombs from the early Middle Ages and a beautiful mullioned window. The Church is open to visitors (free) – there is a little descriptive guide in Italian and English available from the Tourist Information Office.

Park Museum and Observatory

parcoaltogardaThe Park Museum uses innovative ways of informing visitors about the local area within the regional park in a fascinating and entertaining sequence. It introduces visitors to this beautiful region with varied scenery ranging from the Mediterranean-type landscape of the lakeside zone to the wonderful alpine environment of its inland area:

  • illustrates its formation
  • history
  • traditional activities ranging from fishing to the cultivation of lemons
  • from agriculture in the mountain areas to the products of its local craftsmen

It does so using sights and sounds, evoking people and environments, old tools and natural history collections, videos and interactive points in a modern and interesting way. This is an innovative nature trail that winds through a flat plain in Tignale where, in addition to a garden of five senses and a heritage fruit orchard, you can observe the main tree species of the area and get to know the habits and even learn to identify the tracks of the animals that live in the Park, through an educative nature trail in the woods. THE VISIT TO THE NATURE OBSERVATORY IS FREE. Every day open from 10.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The Oil Mill Latteria Turnaria di Tignale

latteriaturnariaThe extra virgin olive oil from Tignale’s “Latteria Turnaria” Co-operative is an organic product of the highest quality.The local luxuriant varieties of olive trees are grown along terraces in one of the most attractive areas of the local regional park (Parco Alto Garda Bresciano) and are cultivated using traditional methods. The olives are handpicked and then taken directly to the olive mill. The cold pressed oil is golden-coloured and has a fruity taste. You can visit the oil mill in Tignale, buy oil and other produce and be informed about the production of the oil and its characteristics from the people who work there.

Astronomic observatory of Cima Rest

The Associazione Astrofili di Salò, during its observational excursions, had identified in Cima Rest, in the municipality of Magasa, the ultimate site for the observation of the night sky far away from light pollution that is hiding the precious starry sky, which was defined by the UNESCO a proper “World Heritage Site”.
The observatory is part of the Ecomuseo della Valvestino and it’s open to the public during the summer period from May to September.

The cycle lane of Limone sul Garda

 

On 15th of July 2018 the new cantilevered cycle lane of Limone sul Garda was opened to the public.
The cantilevered section is the result of an extraordinary and unique project that now allows visitors to cover, either by feet or riding, an overhanging gangway over the waters of Garda, with a breath-taking view suspended between the lake and the sky.

 

   

 


Musa Museum


MUSA is a civic Italian museum of modern and contemporary arts located in Salò, in the province of Brescia. The museum owns a collection of drawings on paper made by authors like Lucio Fontana, Salvatore Garau, Emilio Vedova and Filippo de Pisis.
The MUSA, inaugurated in July 2015, thanks to the collection, the fitting and even more to the initiatives that contribute to the cultural vivacity of this site, wants to be the place where to pick up, understand, transmit to the community and to the visitors the identity of the city, its treasures and its contribution to national history.

 


The Foundation Il Vittoriale degli Italiani

 

The Vittoriale degli Italiani is a complex of buildings, streets, squares, an outdoor theatre, gardens and rivers constructed in 1921 in Gardone Riviera by Gabriele d’Annunzio.

 

 

 

 


Varone waterfalls

 

Varone waterfalls are one of the principal attractions of Alto Garda. Dug by the creek Magnone, they are visible thanks to a specific path (for a fee).
There are two caves where the water flows into the rock: those sites are reachable through 115 steps and a botanic garden.
